Monitoring Resource Capacity
Open Sovereign Cloud provides the following possibilities to monitor the used and available resource capacities:
Monitoring Shoot Cluster Capacity
Question
- Is my Shoot Cluster's memory and cpu capacity full?
- Can I deploy more Pods?
- Is the ephemeral filesystems of some of my Pods full?
- Is my Persistent Volume full?
OSC does not monitor the resource usage of the Shoot Clusters. To answer these questions, users can deploy a monitoring system to the Shoot Cluster. Consult the documentation for useful tips for the first steps.
Monitoring S3 Storage Capacity
Question
- Is my OSC-provided S3 bucket full?
The OSC-provided S3 Bucket Extension provides information
on the used capacity of a user-requested S3 bucket directly
in the Bucket resource's Status
fields.
Please see the documentation of the S3 Extension for more details.
Monitoring the Seed Clusters capacity
Question
- Can I create a new Shoot cluster using a specific Seed Cluster?
The Seeds Cluster's capacity to host Shoot Cluster control planes is finite, each Seed Cluster has a set limit, which cannot be exceeded. Creation of new Shoot Clusters will fail. This limit is defined based on consultation with the customer at the Seed Cluster's creation.
There's no user-accessible way to monitor this number. Please contact OSC for more information.
If the Seed Cluster's Shoot limit is reached, it is necessary to either extend the Seed Cluster, or to create a new Seed Custer. Please contact OSC for more information.
Please see the documentation of Shoot creation for more details.
Monitoring Platform Resources
Question
- Can I add a new Node to my Shoot Cluster, or create a new Shoot Cluster?
- Can I create a new Persistent Volume?
- Can I create a new S3 bucket?
There is no user-accessible way of monitoring the platform resources allocated for a customer. Please contact OSC for more information.
